Welcome to the new Precision
Dairy Management website
Our goal is to further the
development and widespread use of precision dairy management
through communication and idea sharing by acting as a
clearing house of recent events, research and applications
of Precision Dairy Technology. Your feedback is welcome.
Precision dairy management
is
automation using sensor-based management tools that define
animal needs and robotic equipment that automatically
delivers individual cow management applications. In
the same way that mechanization and expansion have improved
productivity in the last 20 years, precision technologies
will drive dairy industry progress in future.
Precision
Dairy management is bringing about a
new model for labour efficient dairy production as shown
with the development of robotic milking, which dramatically
reduces labour requirements. Going beyond robotic
milking, precision technology can monitor cow health and
welfare as well as productivity through level of activity,
body weight changes, udder health and milk
composition, thereby defining animal needs that can be met
through robotic equipment that has traditionally been met
though human care and labour.
Our conference explored practical applications of dairy
automation and management using sensor based data, and
examined the state of the art technology available today,
and the limitless possibilities for the future.
